Julius Caesar

In 2018, in just a month, we provided a 90 minute, abridged, professional version of Julius Caesar with a company of 23. That August, more than 2,000 students from across Calhoun and Etowah County saw a performance to accompany their 10th-grade curriculum. More than 700 community members attended performances. Thanks to grant and community funding, all these opportunities were provided completely free of charge, making arts accessible to all, regardless of gender, socio-economic status, and other barriers. Casting was also done regardless of gender and race and instead based on familiarity with the text and the talent of conveying the message of the text to a high schooler, which brought us an Asian American Brutus, an African American Cassius, a female Cinna, an African American female Antony, and female Cinna the Poet, an African American Casca, a Latina Octavius, a male Portia and a Female Lucius.
